A purpose-built resort with glamorous credentials, villa holidays in Vilamoura combine the best of the Algarve into one stylish bundle. With beaches this good on the doorstep, it’s no surprise that life revolves around the seafront. However, award-winning golf courses tempt visitors off the sands and onto immaculate greens for a few rounds in the sunshine.

At Vilamoura’s heart is a modern marina, home to million-pound yachts and your fill of waterfront restaurants. Yet despite the contemporary touch, the resort rests effortlessly next to historic highlights. Don’t forget to seek out the 5,000 year old archaeological site tucked behind the marina!

Plus, from holiday homes with direct beach access to sprawling countryside escapes, the villas in Vilamoura are just as special.

The resort has two excellent beaches and villa holidays in Vilamoura are your ticket to their gorgeous golden sands. The Blue Flag beach of Praia de Vilamoura is sheltered from the Atlantic waves, leaving the shallow waters clear for paddles aplenty. During the summer, sun loungers adorn the shores while the promenade behind is always game for an ice cream or two.

West of the marina, Praia da Falésia’s powder-soft sands meander unchecked for five kilometres. This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve, named for its distinctive red-coloured cliffs and a haven for water sports.

For lounging with added luxury, visit the peaceful (and rather plush) beaches close to the resorts of Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago.

Unwinding on the beach is big business in Vilamoura, but there’s lots more to look forward to. Visitors flock here for a swing on the five (yes, five!) world-class golf courses. In town, the fun-filled Family Golf Park has two 18-hole mini courses so young putters needn’t miss out.

The Roman ruins of Cerro da Vila are a historic gem nestled among the glitz of the marina. Alongside the bath house and preserved mosaic floors, a small museum presents fascinating artefacts found during the site’s excavation.

Hark back to Vilamoura’s agricultural heritage on a stroll around Vilamoura Environmental Park. Following the banks of the Quarteira River, this five kilometre trail offers idyllic respite from the bustle of town. Keep your eyes peeled for otters and herons among the reeds.

Local boutiques dot the streets behind Vilamoura Marina. On Wednesdays, many tourists take the short trip to neighbouring Quarteira for the weekly market where you can fill your bag with bargain clothes and quirky keepsakes. Remember to haggle!

Food shopping for your villa rental is supremely straightforward thanks to Pingo Doce supermarket on the outskirts of town. Fresh fish, local produce, cupboard essentials, even a cafeteria for a mid-shop pick-me-up! Smaller grocery stores can also be found in central Vilamoura.

Buses regularly depart Vilamoura for Albufeira – the Algarve’s largest, and possibly liveliest, resort town. Here you’ll find everything from air conditioned shopping malls to daily street markets. The quaint outlets around Albufeira Old Town are particularly worth a visit.

Villas in Vilamoura provide all the mod cons you need to release your inner chef, but the international dining scene may entice you out of the kitchen. Especially around Vilamoura Marina, where Portuguese tavernas, Argentinian steakhouses and Asian bistros invite you to eat your way around the world.

When you can’t bear to leave the beach, casual oceanside cafes are on hand to take care of lunch. In fact, many beachfront bars transform into nightlife venues after dark. NoSoloÁgua, an uber-chic club right on the sands, hosts epic sunset parties with cocktails flowing long into the night.

Got a special occasion to celebrate? The slick service and fine European fare at Michelin-starred Willie’s restaurant, set in the hills behind Vilamoura, is your chance to dine like royalty for the night.

Whether you prefer villas close to Vilamoura beach or a rustic abode enveloped by Monchique countryside, our family-friendly villas in Vilamoura boast some of the best locations around town.

Lush gardens and furnished terraces make outdoor living a delight. No doubt, your young ones will waste no time leaping into the private pool while you’re firing up the barbecue! Or, simply kick back on the sun lounger to admire views across the Atlantic Ocean and championship golf courses.

Nearby, Aquashow Water Park and dolphin-spotting boat trips keep kids of all ages on their toes. However, in some rental villas, exciting treats like putting greens and pool tables ensure young holidaymakers need no persuasion to return home at the end of the day.
