Puerto Pollensa

Puerto Pollensa delivers action, history and beachside bliss in equal measure. This laid-back resort comes with a spectacular setting - squeezed between the Serra de Tramuntana mountains and a turquoise horseshoe bay. Add to that a chic marina, a tree-lined promenade and a collection of old stone houses and you’ve got the recipe for a fabulous break!

Book a holiday home in Puerto Pollensa and you’ll get access to plenty of sandy coves; but a holiday here isn’t just about the beach. This is rural Mallorca at its finest and there are coastal trails, hillsides and forest just begging to be explored.

Here for the history? Head inland to find medieval towns and villages, ancient Roman remains and even the remains of long-passed Moorish rule.

Your Puerto Pollensa holiday villa gets you close to beach after gorgeous beach! At the heart of the resort, Pollensa Beach is a lively golden stretch right next to the marina that’s both prime sunbathing and yacht watching territory!

Just next door, warm shallow water, plenty of shade and bags of sandcastle building potential make Albercutx Beach a big hit for families with kids of all ages.

For a beach day with added adventure, follow the three-kilometre path through the Boquer Valley. You’ll walk past boulders, scrub and soaring ridges before reaching your goal: a delightful and deserted cove. Don’t forget to look out for birds of prey along the way!

There’s action, adventure and beachside snoozing to be had within easy reach of your Puerto Pollensa holiday home. Water sports from wind surfing to snorkelling are readily available down at Pollensa Beach. As is the option to hire a boat and a captain for the day and relax while someone else does all the work!

If you’d rather give your thighs a workout, a vast network of trails give you access to some of the best coastline and countryside that Spain has to offer. Hop on a bike and you can follow a spectacular winding road to Cap de Formentor, the northernmost point of the island.

To commune with the past, head up to the Roman ruins at Pollentia or to Pollensa Old Town, where you can revel in medieval splendour and tackle the 365 steps up to the hillside Calvario Chapel.

Puerto Pollensa isn’t known as a shopping destination, but it covers the holiday basics and more, from beach wear to souvenirs to cycling kit. Wander the cobbled streets leading off the main square to browse bijou gift shops and offbeat boutiques. You’ll even find fancy clothes and quality leather shoes if you fancy splashing out.

Want to whip up a meal back at your rental home? There are supermarkets, delis, bakeries and wine shops in town, while the Wednesday market has all the cheese, bread and cured meats that your heart desires.

International favourites and Mallorcan cuisine combine for varied and delicious dining in Puerto Pollensa. Determined to go local? The promenade and the pretty town square are lined with traditional bistros and fish restaurants. Want to mix things up a bit? You’ll find everything from curry to pizza to Chinese.

Sampling the local goods means getting stuck into some seafood. Settle down across from the water and gorge on fresh grilled lobster, red mullet and scorpion fish, washed down with a glass or two straight from the island’s vineyards.

If destination dining’s more your scene, nearby Alcudia can sort you out, but if you’re up for some serious posing, you can’t do better than Palma.

For the ultimate hassle-free holiday, a family-friendly villa in Puerto Pollensa can’t be topped. Perks such as a private swimming pool and a large garden will keep the kids entertained. Leaving you time to sit back, relax and enjoy those outstanding views.

When you do venture out and about, the resort’s beaches will keep everyone from toddlers to teenagers happy, thanks to soft, golden sands and clear water that’s just as suited to water sports as padding.

If you’ve got active children on your hands, head away from the resort and wear them out on the hiking, biking and horse-riding trails that cover the hillsides.
