Additional Notes:

Sa Riera is Begur`s largest beach and the one closest to the town. It is very easy to get to from the town, simply by taking the ring road and going down to the bay. It can also be reached from Sa Tuna or Aiguafreda along the road that connects the various towns. Sa Riera, whose name comes from the stream that divides the beach into two halves, retains the former fishermens` houses and has a boat club offering various leisure activities. Its geographical location is excellent: to the right is the sheltered bay of Port d`Es Pi, while to the left lies Rei bay, from which one can take the coastal path to stroll to Illa Roja and Pals beaches.

This pretty bay with its colourwashed fishermens` cottages dotted along the shore has a real character of its own and there is a twice weekly market in the square in the high season. A small choice of good restaurants along the beach front, a supermarket and various shops selling local artifacts completes the picture. The beach itself is deep and sandy with a shallow entrance to the water. There are welcome showers at the edge of the beach.

Every summer the beach becomes a choice setting for the traditional habanera recital held there. Having been awarded a blue flag each year since 1995, it is very well equipped and has a boat club offering varied sports activities related with the sea.

The bay can be reached from the Begur road or, on foot, along the coastal path from Platja del Racó, the nudist beach. Sa Riera can also be reached from the south along a road which, hugging the coastline, runs between Aiguafreda and Sa Tuna.

Begur - This charming hillside town with its cobbled streets offers the visitor an excellent choice of Catalan restaurants, tapas bars and shops. The main square has entertainment in the high season and there are many late night bars and a couple of discos. The overall atmosphere is very Spanish with local artists` paintings and crafts displayed in the square during the summer. Every Wednesday there is a market sellling fruit/veg clothes and accessories. There are excellent supermarkets, specialist fishmonger, butchers` shops and freshly baked bread available in many shops.
