High Farm Houses
Location details
High Farm Houses are the perfect places to get away from it all and experience the totally natural surroundings of rural Greece. The two identical, detached houses (30m apart) are perched on the higher slopes of an olive farm in an unspoilt rural landscape, where the only sounds are tinkling goat bells and birdsong.
4 km from the village of Galatas, at a height of around 300m above sea-level, the houses overlook the Saronic Gulf and offer unrivalled panoramic views to Poros, Methana, Agistri, Aegina, Athens and beyond. Although the local taxis will take you as far as the farm entrance (500m from the houses), a car is essential if you wish to be independent and able to explore the many attractions of the area.
Visit the island of Poros, just a 2 minute boat ride from the centre of Galatas; the spa town of Methana is a 25 minute drive away; the beautiful city of Nafplion and the ancient theatre of Epidauros both just an hour away, whilst deserted sandy beaches with crystal-clear seas await you along the coast road to Ermioni.
The village of Galatas itself has all the amenities needed – good-value tavernas offering tasty Greek dishes, coffee shops where you can watch the world go by whilst sipping an ice-cold frappe, supermarkets, greengrocers, butchers and bakers, car hire and a petrol station.
The houses themselves are newly completed, and form the upper parts of 2 detached buildings. They are decorated and furnished in a style sympathetic to the surrounding countryside.

Galatas
GALATAS is a town located in the eastern part of the peninsula of the Peloponnese just a stones throw away from Poros and 2 hours drive from Athens is fast becoming a haven for those looking for the rustic approach to a greek holiday. It is the seat of the municipality of Troizina. It is one of the easternmost municipalities on the peninsula and is located on a road connecting the rest of the Peloponnese: Argolis and Ligouri and Galatas and the road to Ermioni and Kranidi. Located East of ancient Troezen, South East of Ligouri, North East of Kranidi and Ermioni and South West of Methana. Its twin town, the island city of POROS, is only 50m away. GALATAS is a small mainland town with a new high school, medical centre, church, banks and a new sea front area (plateia) overlooking Poros Island. GALATAS connects to the island of POROS with small boats (water taxis). In ancient times, a sump was between Galatas and Poros. Galatas also has many independent shops, some businesses and plenty of tavernas. Until the 1960s, the area was home to many goats that produced milk and cheese and gave it the name Galatas (meaning milk fields) The area is beautiful. The mountain range Anderes overlooks the Saronic Gulf and the Athens coastline. It is fast becoming a popular place to build homes and development is higher now than that of Poros. |
