Testimonials
`We all had a wonderful time and the house was all we expected and more. The location, the views and more importantly, the accomodation itself were fantastic and we would recommend it to anyone who wished to have a relaxing and authentic Greek experience. Tracy was always on hand to assist, beginning on our arrival when we got a little lost in the dark and we appreciated the assistance she gave us during our stay. Her local knowledge was a great help to us. Galatas itself is a lovely town and we found it a very economical place to dine out. The recommendations from the literature in the house were very helpful in choosing suitable places to eat. We also found Elanova a welcome oasis from the heat and we had some very enjoyable days there thanks to the hospitality of the family who own it. We also found Galatas a good centre to explore the rich history of the area and we had wonderful trips to Athens, Napflio, Tolo and Epidavros. My camera has never been worked so hard taking in the many historical sites that abound. I must finally mention the views from the balcony of the house which are absolutely stunning. especially at night when the sunset view was just magnificent`. D. McInnes 23june-7july 2010
Please extend our thanks to Tracy for her help and, as I mentioned, we will have no hesitation in recommending the house to anyone thinking of a Greek holiday in the future.
"Our family have stayed at Olive Tree House and had a wonderful week and really did not want to leave. The views are spectacular and can`t be done justice by a photograph. The sunrise and sunset each day from the terrace was a real highlight." S. Sword May-June 2009
`We really liked Olive Tree House. It has the most magnificent views and is very well furnished and extremely comfortable, with generously sized rooms. We were able to find good local produce in Galatas, and we enjoyed the restaurants in Poros. We would also recommend to future clients "Two Brothers" boat trip with picnic around the island. I forgot to add that we found Tracy so helpful! Really nothing was too much trouble for her (or her husband on occasions!)She is a great asset`. S. Train Aug 2009
`We had a lovely two weeks at Olive Tree House. The area was beautiful and we enjoyed being part of life in Galatas as well as sightseeing and spending time at Elanova and on the beach. Tracy was extremely helpful and full of advice and useful information`. S Gray Aug 2009

Galatas
GALATAS is a town located in the eastern part of the peninsula of the Peloponnese just a stones throw away from Poros and 2 hours drive from Athens is fast becoming a haven for those looking for the rustic approach to a greek holiday. It is the seat of the municipality of Troizina. It is one of the easternmost municipalities on the peninsula and is located on a road connecting the rest of the Peloponnese: Argolis and Ligouri and Galatas and the road to Ermioni and Kranidi. Located East of ancient Troezen, South East of Ligouri, North East of Kranidi and Ermioni and South West of Methana. Its twin town, the island city of POROS, is only 50m away. GALATAS is a small mainland town with a new high school, medical centre, church, banks and a new sea front area (plateia) overlooking Poros Island. GALATAS connects to the island of POROS with small boats (water taxis). In ancient times, a sump was between Galatas and Poros. Galatas also has many independent shops, some businesses and plenty of tavernas. Until the 1960s, the area was home to many goats that produced milk and cheese and gave it the name Galatas (meaning milk fields) The area is beautiful. The mountain range Anderes overlooks the Saronic Gulf and the Athens coastline. It is fast becoming a popular place to build homes and development is higher now than that of Poros. |

Nearby islands in the Saronic Gulf are Hydra, Spetses and Aegina, all of which can be accessed via fast ferry from Poros. If you want to island hop further afield you can nip back to Athens and take a ferry to a whole host of other islands including Mykonos. If you like the idea of a sailing and land-based holiday we can recommend yacht chartering services from the harbour where you can also hire a skipper to take care of you. Villas with pool and yacht chartering are available on the mainland at Ancient Epidavros and on the island of Zakynthos in the Ionion group of islands. |
